Sorry, I didn't want to say this because I have been a big Gamezl fan for a while, but the sad truth is that this game mostly sucks.
To be fair, I was actually enjoying it quite a lot at the beginning, until I realized that it wasn't as good as it first seemed. And when I came to that final part where I had to follow the screaming in the woods, I found myself wandering around forever like an idiot, and the screams' direction never made any sense, so I ended up quitting the game and watching a video of it in YouTube. That totally ruined the experience for me. But the ending was quite disappointing, so it's not like I was missing much anyway...
Also, what was the point of talking to all those random people just for NOTHING at all? Really, you just talk with each character only once and they serve no other purpose other than to create the false sensation that this game is deeper and bigger than it actually is. You never see any of those characters again and nothing important happens to them either. And yes, you could argue that a similar thing happens in other Gamezl game that I like, which is 'Missing Hiker.' But in that case it was fine because it wasn't open world and you were just looking for someone. But in this case, it just felt wrong because your character is supposed to be an officer/investigator, and there are some characters and certain places that I wanted to investigate a lot more.
What happened to the officer that you first encountered in the game? What about the guy who was stuck at the side of the road? Did he survived? What about that weird girl who didn't want to talk to you? Why is it that people do not like the police around here? Did something happened at the motel? Because I felt like I needed to investigate that area deeper...
I could literally go on and on asking for questions that were sadly never answered. All of this gave me the impression that this game was probably unfinished or made in a hurry.
Edit: Oh, and to make things even worse, I just realized (after replaying it) that you can finish the whole game without even talking to ANY of the characters at all. You can literally just go straight to the cabin and unlock the ending without doing anything else, which further proves that all the NPCs are 100% pointless. Seriously, what kind of "game" is this?
And don't get me wrong, I truly love the other Gemezl games, and this one definitely had potential. I was really waiting for this game and I had high expectations for it because the previous games were so great. And this game really felt creepy, suspenseful, and the open hub world concept felt cool at first. The fact that the story was centered around mimics was a good idea, because I love all those stories about mimics and doppelgangers; that's something that I find truly scary and disturbing. So, the concept was great...But the execution and the ending were a major letdown in my humble opinion.
2 out of 5 stars (and trust me when I say that I wanted to rate this higher).
Awesome game! Though like others have said, the ending was a bit meh, especially in my play through where I saw the mimic coming from a mile away and just casually shot it down. The atmosphere was great though and there's some real potential here. Keep it up!
Enjoyed it a lot, just kinda wished it had a choice factor in the end, where you could choose who was the mimic, but other than that, really well made!
Really enjoyable game that had me questioning who could be a mimic. I've always loved the concept of mimics so it was great seeing a game based around that. I think its got a great atmosphere and had me jump a few times. That being said I wish there was more to the end, and I wish there was a save during that final encounter. Because in my first playthrough, the mimic just spawned right in front of me/in me and I couldn't do anything so I think that was a bug. Anyway good game, 8/10
I think it says a lot about my general levels of paranoia that I instantly suspected anyone and everyone and everything I met! Traffic cones, cars, gas station pumps, nothing was safe from my suspicion!
Nice to see your work hit steam Gemezl. A slow burn. Granted I do spend a bit too much time staring down the NPCs in a blinking contest. But a fine little slice of a game. All that time adds to the tension and what curve balls are along the way, add to the charm. Good work as always Gemezl.
loved the open world feeling while still retaining the soul of a short horror experience, every character I met was so uncomfortable I thought almost all of them were the mimic at one point or another, great replayability and the screaming at the end was very unsettling. Good shit as always!
Couldn't finish the game yet but I LOVED the atmosphere. If I'll be honest my favorite part of the game is driving. It somehow feels quite cozy but you're still on the edge, looking at the treeline for something to pop out.
I always enjoy the fears to fathom style. I think it would of been cool if one of the people you questioned was the mimic and you had to figure out which person it was. But beside that I enjoyed it a lot! Good work :)
I really like the concept of a mimic possibly lurking amongst the people you meet, it adds a lot of tension. Something about this game give me a feeling of nostalgia.
Surprisingly in depth and compelling. Enjoyed driving around, questioning locals. Would have liked the ability to guess wrong and shoot the wrong person. Also would have liked cutscenes for the good and bad end, where good end is debriefing at the station and bad end is the mimic returns to the station in your car and uniform, impersonating you.
You're alright sick! Thanks for the reply, I want to make a horror game of my own but I don't even know where to start… So I figured I would ask around!
What an awesome game! You're so good at building tense atmosphere! The ending was so anxiety inducing, I had to turn down the volume because it was triggering my fight or flight response lol. Can't wait to see your future game projects :)

The collision and sound design was really good.
Great ending man but not a fan of talking with people with the same dialogues and for nothing.
Maybe work on it for your next games bro !
It was not bad btw
I'm not against the car and the talking parts but it just do nothing more than "where is mimic" "idk"
It's like 80% of the game

Man, I really hope you make a longer game at some point, the atmosphere was very well done.
It was fun driving around, and all the citizens were so helpful with the case. Btw that's one weird looking rooster lol
Loved it!
great game !
GREAT atmosphere and vibe. Huge fun of the PSX type horror. Great job

loved the monster and the atmosphere! keep up the good work!
Alright I know this probably sounds stupid… but do you use a game engine when creating this? If so, which one?
I use Unity

You did it again! Had an absolute blast playing this. I was tense the whole way throughout. Good game!
that was great, well done!
